On September 17–19, 2020, the 2nd Anitschkow days/ IAS Conference on Atherosclerosis was planned to be held in Moscow. Due to the pandemic, the congress was cancelled.

The presentation of Russia as a venue for the conference was held with the support of the Russian Convention Bureau in the framework of the regular congress of the European Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis in Maastricht, the Netherlands. More than 2,000 doctors and scientists were expected to attend the congress, one of the industry's leading events.

For the first time, the Anichkov Days were held in 2016 in St. Petersburg, the city where the outstanding scientist, academician N. N. Anichkov worked, after whom the conference of the International Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis was named.

At the 2nd Anichkov Days conference of the International Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis, the participation of world-renowned scientists from almost all continents is expected. The work of the conference in the framework of plenary sessions will be devoted to the results of recent research, generalization of knowledge, coverage of the basic scientific principles and prospects for diagnostics. There are also formats that involve professional discussions, and specialized sessions that allow young doctors and scientists to exchange knowledge. In parallel, the conference will host events aimed at Russian specialists.
