Bashkortostan is called the pearl of the Southern Urals. There is a huge amount of tourist resources in Bashkortostan - more than 4,500 monuments of history, art, culture, archeology; about 300 karst caves, 600 rivers, with the largest river Belaya; 800 lakes; ridges of the Ural Mountains, which are the oldest mountain formations in Europe, including the highest peak in the republic - Mount Yamantau; three state reserves: Shulgan-Tash, Bashkir Reserve, South Ural Reserve and Bashkiria National Natural Park, four natural parks (Kandry-Kul, Muradymov Gorge, Asly-Kul, Iremel).
The number of visitors to nature protection zones in 2018 amounted to more than 180 thousand people, which is 35% more than the previous year.

Health tourism
The republic is known for its high-class health resorts, with unique sources of healing waters, muds, koumiss treatment. Services in this direction are provided by 66 sanatorium-resort organizations, including the well-known resorts “Yangan-tau”, “Krasnousolsk”, “Yakty-kul”, “Assy”, which are multidisciplinary sanatorium complexes. In the Republic of Bashkortostan, there are 9 medical organizations for improving the adult population (2 of them are state-owned enterprises - Talkas, Yakty-Kul and 7 LLC - Assy, Zelenaya Roscha, Karagay, Krasnousolsk, Tanyp, "Yumatovo", "Yangan-Tau"). According to the results of the last three years, in the leading positions in the ranking of “TOP-100 Russian health resorts” are the sanatoriums of the Republic of Bashkortostan: “Tanyp”, “Yumatovo”, “Yangan-Tau”, “Yakty-Kul.”
Bioclimatic resources:
mineral waters, therapeutic muds, hot gases and vapors, koumiss treatment, honey. There are more than 50 mineral springs and deposits of healing mud in the republic, a favorable temperate continental climate, therefore, the resort activity of the region attracts more and more tourists every year. The throughput capacity of the recreation complex is 1.3 million people per year.
Ski tourism
Winter holidays in Bashkortostan - is a dozen ski centers with slopes of various difficulty levels equipped with modern ski lifts. There are prepared tracks with artificial snow and night lighting that meet international sports standards, simple slides for beginners, excellent opportunities for off-piste skiing and professionally prepared snow parks. In all ski centers you can rent equipment and use the services of an instructor, and after skiing, restore strength in cozy cafes and restaurants.

Main routes
There are many routes of different nature and difficulty level in the republic: rafting on rivers, mountain one-day and multi-day routes, cycle tracks, natural rocks for climbing, convenient trails for horse riding. In winter, horse-drawn, skiing and snowmobiling tours are available.
River tourist routes
The most popular water route is rafting on the picturesque Belaya river. Such tours are made on rafts, which are reliable and stable. The capacity of the vessel is 6-12 people. One of the most beautiful and favorite tourist destinations in the Urals is Iremel Mountains. This is a two-peaked mountain range consisting of Small Iremel (1,449 m) and Big Iremel (1,582 m), which is the second highest mountain in the Southern Urals. Useful Facts and Numbers
In the state budgetary institution, the House of Friendship of the Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan, there are 16 historical and cultural centers that are popular objects of ethnographic tourism. In the branches of the House of Friendship there are local history (ethnographic) museums, halls, corners where excursions are held, event folklore events are organized: festivals, holidays, ritual events. Based on the analysis of the proposals of ethnic tours and ethnographic festivals, the TurStat agency determined the Top 10 best ethnic parks in Russia, popular with tourists in 2018 (information from the above collection). The Vatan ethnopark, located in the city of Ufa in the Ufa Amphitheater, also entered the top ten best sites in Russia for atmospheric ethnic trips and exploring the traditions and customs of its peoples.
In 2018, a new regional brand “Terra Bashkiria” was developed in Russia (the copyright holder is the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Agency of the Republic of Bashkortostan for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises”). According to the results of the National rating of tourist brands of the Journal "Tourism & Leisure in Russia" and the Information Communication Center "Rating", Bashkortostan was ahead of Lipetsk region with its brand "Lipetsk Land" by 0.3 points and took first place in the rating

Shihan Mountains
Four mountains - Toratau, Shakhtau, Yuraktau and Kushtau - form a narrow chain in the Urals, stretched for 20 kilometers along the Belaya River. Shihan are the remains of the barrier reef of the Ural Ocean, which disappeared millions of years ago, so they consist of accumulations of fossils of ancient sponges, corals, algae and echinoderms.
